چکیده
Developmental phenotypic plasticity is a widespread phenomenon that allows organisms to produce different adult phenotypes in response environments. Investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying has potential reveal precise changes lead evolution of as phenotype. Here, we study wing multiple host?plant adapted populations pea aphids model for understanding adaptation environments within single species. We describe “biotypes” crowded environment and find differences well among biotypes. then use transcriptome profiling compare highly plastic aphid genotype one shows no latter exhibits gene expression between conclude loss been accompanied by differential therefore genetic assimilation occurred. Our results generalize previous studies have shown correlation morphology expression.

Pea aphid biotype performance on diverse Medicago host genotypes indicates highly specific virulence and resistance functions.
Aphid-plant interactions depend on genotypes of both organisms, which determine the two-way molecular exchange that leads to compatible or incompatible outcomes. The underlying genes are mostly unknown, making it difficult to predict likelihood of aphid success or host resistance, and hampering crop genetic improvement. Here we screened eight pea aphid clonal genotypes collected from diverse le...
متن کاملEnvironment Exploration and Colonization Behavior of the Pea Aphid Associated with the Expression of the foraging Gene
Aphids respond to specific environmental cues by producing alternative morphs, a phenomenon called polyphenism, but also by modulating their individual behavior even within the same morph. This complex plasticity allows a rapid adaptation of individuals to fluctuating environmental conditions, but the underlying genetic and molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. The foraging gene is known...
متن کاملGene knockdown by RNAi in the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum
BACKGROUND RNA interference (RNAi) is a powerful method to inhibit gene expression in a sequence specific manner. RESULTS Here, we described the development of RNAi by micro-injection of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) in the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum. Injection of dsRNA into whole aphid body induced the silencing of two marker genes with different expression patterns: the ubiquitously expres...
متن کاملThe importance of antennae for pea aphid wing induction in the presence of natural enemies.
The pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris has been shown to produce an increasing proportion of winged morphs among its offspring when exposed to natural enemies, in particular hoverfly larvae, lacewing larvae, adult and larval ladybirds and aphidiid parasitoids. While these results suggest that wing induction in the presence of predators and parasitoids is a general response of the pea aphid, t...
